CHAIR I
USA
1987
This chair is designed to accompany the table fabricated for the Great Cranberry Island house and incorporates many of the joinery details and craftsmanship of the table. The tall back of the chair defines the dining area of the house without constructed walls: the table, the people gathered around it and the chair make the space. Of particular detail interest is the curved back let into the structure of the chair to accept the curve of the sitter’s back and the precision mortise joints. The materials are maple wood and natural linen.
